Australia's Working Holiday Visa (WHV) is set to receive more favorable policies
Following two consecutive months of slowdown in student and accompanying visas in August, the 500 student visa has seen a "bright spot," with a significant speed-up in processing for 50% of applications. The 500 vocational education branch has also seen a 2-month acceleration, while 90% of student visa applications are no longer slowing down and remain unchanged.
The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) recently released a submission on this discussion paper. ATEC suggests that targeted improvements can significantly enhance the visa's effectiveness in increasing tourist revenue, boosting demand for Australian tourism destinations, fostering bilateral relations, and extending stay durations, ultimately benefiting Australia's remote areas.
Proposed visa conditions include:
1. Expanding the scope of specific work.
2. Shortening the work requirements for visa extensions.
3. Allowing work experience to be accumulated across states.
4. Raising the age limit.
5. Increasing the opportunity for a second WHV.
The Australian government aims to actively introduce more favorable policies to attract more WHV holders to work and live in remote areas, injecting vitality into the local economy and tourism industry. This is good news for those seeking immigration, employment, or education opportunities
